Bernard Delany


In 2008, Bernard Delany founded HR Initiatives Limited. Prior to starting HR Initiatives, Bernard held a number of senior HR roles both domestically and abroad. Bernard’s 25 years HR and commercial experience within organisations or advising them includes:

  • Successfully advising senior management teams at Director and Board level on driving commercial success and developing the organisations’ performance capabilities through leadership initiatives, people processes and organisational design.
  • Simultaneously driving the commercial agenda whilst mitigating people risks.
  • Leading transformational reorganisations in commercially challenged businesses in unionised and non-unionised environments.
  • Applying wide ranging industry experience across varied international companies.
  • Applying recognised expertise in HR, HR systems and Employment Law having lectured in Industrial Relations, HRM, Employment Law and IT for HR.

Having won and completed a Master’s degree scholarship programme with the University of Limerick including a 12 month placement in Japan, Bernard has a particular interest in the effect of cultures on organisational performance. Bernard’s current interests include on how to create a continuous learning environment in the flow of work where organisations promote and maintain intentional learning leading to better performance outcomes for their bottom line. Bernard is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, holds a honours BBS and MBS from the University of Limerick and a Diploma in Executive and Business Coaching form University College Dublin.
